These are two warriors in Welsh mythology that get turned into wolves as punishment for various deeds. Gwydion is essentially the Welsh equivalent of Hercules or Paul Bunyan, a national hero of myth with many old stories.
I tried to make this look like a medieval lumination from one of the old, great books of insular art. There is a triskelion motif from pre-history Ireland. You can see the Hiberno-Saxon style in the knotwork, and a bit of Urnes style from Scandinavia in the tree and random S spirals. There are Pictish symbols from ancient Scotland in there, too.
This is a gift for a friend of mine. He'll be receiving a print of it shortly.
Sorry for not uploading much lately. I have lost the old computer I was using to make art, and I replaced it with a new one. I was also hit with a massive depressive Winter funk that glued me to the couches and my bed. I've been trying to get my art published, too, but I can't post that art until I get the okay from the publisher.

As the friend, I have to say that I am overwhelmed and deeply moved by this magnanimous gesture. The detail and passion that you have for your work can be seen in ever diminutive aspect of your creation. You art reflects the true nature of your spirit. This gift is held in the highest regard. Light and love!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
